Information on Funding Eco Refurbishments
Several sources of finances are available to help you make your property more energy efficient. Some sources are only applicable to certain people, some will soon disappear and others will soon to be introduced during 2012, so it can be quite complicated to get your head around.
The Green Building Partnership can help you understand how sources of funding can best be used to integrate into your particular refurbishment project.
Funding only available until Autumn 2012
Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) funds and local authority grants
Insulation measures for cavity walls and loft are free to people over 70 and those on certain benefits. Irrespective of income, everyone qualifies for some level of government grant but you should be aware that these grants will be phased out at the end of 2012 and, depending on your circumstances, what replaces it may not be as generous.
You should act now by calling us to ensure that you are able to access this free money.
Funding available after Autumn 2012
Green Deal loan finance
The Green Deal, to be introduced from Autumn 2012, is a way of making your home or business more energy efficient, whether you own or rent it, and paying for the work from the savings on your energy bill. This means that energy efficiency measures can be installed at no upfront cost via a loan whose repayment is part of the energy bill for that property. The principle is that the cost of energy efficiency measures will be less than the amount of money they save.
Energy Company Obligation (ECO)
From late 2012, energy supply companies will be required by the UK Government to provide money to make certain properties more energy efficient.
If you own a property with solid walls (without a cavity) you may be able to draw upon ECO money to internally or externally insulate those walls and massively improve the energy consumption and comfort of your property.
Equally, for those people who do not heat their properties due to the high cost of fuel, ECO may be able to provide money to make the property warmer without increasing your bills.
If you are considering refurbishing a property, The Green Building Partnership can help you understand how the Green Deal and the ECO schemes can help you pay for the work.
