Detached Property in Brighton
Integrating environmental improvements into your design from the outset is key, whether it is for one house or for many at a time.
This 1930’s split level home wanted a range of alterations to occur over time, allowing for
budget, disruption, weather, and overall aspirations changing over time.
Our partner company – Bright Green Homes’s Architect and Sustainable Building Consultant in this instance helped to design the optimum solution for the client and their home – in this example here they integrated a kitchen extension, a complete lower ground floor renovation, external wall insulation, a solar thermal hot water system, a grass roof
and now in 2012 a room in the roof and solar photovoltaics.
50mm of Cork External Wall Insulation (a carbon negative material) acting as a thermal overcoat for the property brings the requirement of heating down, so much so that now the heating is turned off from March until October saving hundreds of pounds each year in heating bills and reducing its carbon footprint
By extending the kitchen, bringing in more natural light reducing the need for electricity but also ultimately providing the beautiful living area the client required integrates beautiful design with environmental considerations.
Bright Green Homes helped throughout the design process, integrate the technologies involved, plan for the best fit solution, help you coordinate the various contractors, oversee the smooth installation, and make sure that the whole process of improving your home is as painless as possible. As one of the partners of The Green Building Partnership, we are able to bring this expertise to bear to create the best solution for whatever your needs – individual houses or large numbers of social housing.
